local apache alters dns resolution
I have a very weird problem.
I run example.com on a VPS, including bind9 for DNS. Everywhere except Firefox and Midori on my development machine, both example.com and www.example.com work perfectly. 'Everywhere' includes Chrome and Firefox on other windows computers and chromium on my development machine (13.04).
I run a local Apache server for development. When it is running and I go to http://example.com I am served index.htm from /var/www on my development machine. This does not happen when go to http://www.example.com. When I stop my local apache server there are no problem.
nslookup resolves the domain properly, even when apache is running. I regularly ssh into example.com.
I've been clearing caches and turning of dns servers (local router) and nothing is helping.
An ubuntu 12.10 vitualbox with a bridged network adapter running on my development machine was works perfectly.
